About Us

IAIM, Canada - AIMB, Canada® is the Canada Chapter of the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).

IAIM was founded by Vimala McClure in 1986 following the publication of her book Infant Massage - A Handbook For Loving Parents.

For several years, she taught parents the art of infant massage from her home. At the request of childbirth educators, in 1978, she developed a training program and began to train instructors to teach the program. The success of Vimala's classes led to the creation of IAIM.

Today, the Association is present in more than 70 countries and still growing! There are 1000s of IAIM Certified Infant Massage Instructors (known as CIMIs) around the world, with more than a 1000 people in Canada taking our training.

As a result, IAIM's program is the most comprehensive infant massage training program available in Canada. CIMIs are highly qualified to teach parents to massage their babies with knowledge, care and respect.

As the representative body of IAIM in Canada, IAIM, Canada - AIMB, Canada® promotes the work of IAIM and supports existing and newly trained Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMIs). It is a bilingual organization (French and English) representing the official languages of Canada.

IAIM, Canada – AIMB, Canada® is a not-for-profit charitable organization of approximately 350 members (as of March 2021). It is administered and managed by an elected board of volunteer CIMIs with a variety of skills. The Chapter adheres to the IAIM International’s Policies and Procedures and also has its own set of Bylaws registered with Industry Canada.
